I've been listening to the podcasts and I love the way that Darrell (and the behind the scene production crew!) challenge F.N. stereotypes. It is done in a way that is funny, thought-provoking, and genuine. I am of mixed blood: Oji-Cree/English and I can really appreciate some of the challenges of being a F.N.'s woman in Canadian society. Kudos to the CBC for continuing the dialogue, esp. around difficult issues. It's about time we talked about the elephant in the room...I mean the Indian in the closet.
meegwetch/cheers.

Hi there,

Not being all that savvy technologically, I can't figure out how to download your podcasts to my MP3 player -- when I use "Save Target As", it only downloads a shortcut. Can you advise?

Also, I've already got most of the Age of Persuasion programs since Jan 2007 -- I'm just trying to fill in the gaps. If you want copies of the earlier ones, let me know how to get them to you. Note however that I recorded them off air, so while most of them are fine, a couple are poor quality.

Thanks,
Scott

It wouldn't be hard work at all -- CBC embed their mp3 files in flash players on their sites but you can find the paths directly to the mp3 files in the source code for their program pages. Go to R2Drive, look at the code, and search for ".mp3" and you'll find the files you can either copy or point to for the podcast!
 http://www.cbc.ca/radio2/r2drive/

I don't know if that's how you get the audio already, but Age of Persuasion and Wiretap at least both use this system as well.

Hi there, I am a student at Red Deer College and I am enrolled in an Aboriginal Children & Families course. I just wanted to tell you, Mr Dennis, how much I appreciate your humor in your radio show. Alot of the Aboriginal material and subjects that we are studying are very sad, such as the trauma from "Residential School Systems" and the stereotyping that is used toward the Aboriginal people. It is fantastic to hear the point of view of an Aboriginal who is not afraid to shed some humor on these issues and that is knowledgable and has the ability to interview others that can teach us history, culture and belief systems of a variety of Aboriginal tribes, reserves, and communities. Out of all the materials we study, I look forward to Revision Quest the most. Thank you!

Your idea of the flying hockey pucks became a reality.

(a) Was there a backlash of disgruntled visitors to the HHF when they found that the puck game was not a reality?
(b) How long did it take for the HHF to construct that game after the ad progamme began?
(c) Are here other instances where ad ideas have been made into real products?

Maybe this is how you're already getting the Age of Persuasion podcasts, but if you look at the source html on the official Age of Persuasion page, you can find urls for the official mp3 files. CBC just hide them behind Flash players. Everything is there except the RSS feed that you provide!

Hi - it looks like the Age of Persuasion feed only carries the few most recent podcasts - and the most recent one, 314, doesn't carry over. :-(

Love the show, thank you for putting it together, it's a little bit of home available from south of the border. (I miss Toronto so much!)

Greetings! Just heard your show for the first time this last week. Great stuff. I'm surprised CBC isn't offering the show as a podcast? What? That seriously sucks, as I'd like to be able to listen to all past shows on my ipod while at work. Anyway, I'll send an email or something.

thanks for the show,

I think the "Made in Canada" label has lost its authority in pointing Canadians to excellent local goods and services. ANY products, or campaigns which stir a Canadian's spirit don't need a label to be recognized for what they are.

Canada is ripe for a resurgence of LOCAL national economy. I look forward to these success stories!

No I didn't capture Simply Sean last summer, but if it comes around again this summer (which is likely), I will try to podcast his show.

Thank you to all of the people that produce this site. It must be some kind of difficult. I know that there are some copyright issues that prevents CBC from delivering The Age Of Persuasion as a podcast, or so they say. But why some other shows fall through the cracks. Also, in the Summer do you have a Simply Sean podcast?

Hi,

There seems to be a problem with the Age of Persuasion Podcasts. I currently use Juice (have for years without any problems) and currently download about 10 various podcasts and videocasts.

The Age of Persuasion podcasts download but the program doesn't seem to realize it's completed... and starts the same podcast over and over and over.... it's like it never completes. I have to manually go into the software and tell it not to download it... (skip) even though the file has been downloaded.

Other times, the Age of Persuasion podcast will simply download a file called: player instead of the episode...

Any ideas, suggestions?

This is a fantastic service. Thank you. I have only discovered it today and have subscribed but wish to know if there is a way to listen to the older episodes on my ipod. Can I make older episodes appear in iTunes somehow so they can be transferred?
Thanks in advance,
Lee

The audio files are not made available on the age of persuasion site until after the airing on Saturday. Therefore I can't post new episodes until the following Sunday or Monday.

Thanks so much for doing this. It makes it a lot easier to listen to the show.

Just a note that Episode 3 has been up on the Apple site for a week now. They haven't made it impossible for you to continue updating this, have they?

I just found this blog after putting together my own Age of Persuasion podcast. I probably wouldn't have bothered had I known about yours.

Mine is here: http://feeds.feedburner.com/AOP_Unofficial_Podcast
It is generated from the CBC Age of Persuasion site, and links directly to the MP3s hosted by cbc.ca. Because my feed just scrapes the CBC website, it only contains the most recent four episodes, unlike yours which has many more.

Indeed, thank you for posting these! I searched for the age of persuasion podcast and only found the 'unoffical' version which confused me and lead me to here.

Strange they have shows not in podcast form. Listening to your 'version' for the first time and am a little disappointed in the compression and digital skipping, but I'll takes what I can gets. Thanks again!

Hey this is a great site, filling in a niche where CBC drops the ball. You're really helping to deliver some great content that I (we) might otherwise miss.

You don't have any contact information though. Is that intentional? Are you hiding? I'd like to find out about how you record the shows and get them up as a podcast. Will you add any more shows?
